Marshall / DROPS 174-18 – De set bevat: gehaakte muts en sjaal voor heren met dubbele stokjes en vasten van DROPS Air.
When it comes to crafting, I'm a fan of Trash To Treasure projects and this crochet project is no exception. I had the idea of using Plarn instead of white yarn a few months ago ... but if you do not know how to make Plarn, you can still crochet this Snowman fridge magnet with 4-ply white yarn.
You can use felt, ribbons, black beads, wobbly eyes, colored craft foam or whatever you have on hand to trim them. You can stick a magnetic disk on the back to turn it into Christmas fridge magnets, or you can omit the magnet and add a hanging string to turn it into Christmas tree ornaments.
The crochet work takes only a few minutes and the gluing of all borders takes about one hour. Fast and easy way of crafting!
Here is what you need:
1 plastic bag, processed to Plarn
1 round magnetic disc
Scraps of black, red and orange felt (for hat, hat bow, eyes and carrot nose)
All-purpose craft glue
Crochet hook size F or G
Note: If you use yarn as the base, you can add the edges with a glue gun. When using Plarn, hot glue can cause plastic bags to melt!
Turn the snowman to the head:
Using your plarn or yarn, sew the chain 5 diagonally into the first chain to form a ring. Chain 1, then 10 single crochet in the ring, diagonal stitch to the first SC you have made, chain 1, then 2 single crochet in each single crochet, diagonal stitch in the first single crochet, fasten and weave in your ends. (Note: I made mine with yarn that is much bulkier than normal yarn).
To form the orders:
Cut a cylindrical shape out of black felt and stick it on the head of your snowman. I cut mine with one piece of red felt and the other with a piece of ribbon. Cut a small triangle of orange felt for his nose and two small circles of black felt for his eyes. Stick this on his head. You can decide if you want to add a mouth or not ... either way he looks cute! Finally, glue a magnetic disc to the back and let it dry for 2 hours.
