Afghan crochet stitch has many variations that look very different. Despite its name, this engraving is not used exclusively for Afghans, nor are Afghans made solely with this stitch.
The mesh is often referred to by many different names - Tunisian crochet, tricot crochet, shepherd crochet, crochet hook and railway knitting.
Tunisian Crochet is similar to knitting by holding all the stitches in a row at the same time on the hook. This stitch is also different from normal crochet stitches, as the rows are worked in half. Unlike normal crocheting, where you work every single stitch to a point where only one stitch remains on the hook before proceeding to the next stitch, use the Afghan stitch to work a series of stitches on the hook and work then the same series of stitches from the hook.
Due to the way the lines are constructed, a unique hook is required. Afghan crochet hooks are longer than normal crochet hooks and have a stopper at the end to prevent the stitches from slipping off. There is also one that consists of a crochet hook at each end connected by a flexible cord in the middle. These are ideal for making carpets because they hold many stitches. Most patterns determine the most suitable hook length for this design. If you are not sure, check the dimension of the part to be machined. Choose a hook that is slightly longer than the width of your piece.
Tunisian crochet work The fabric is firmer and thicker than the fabric. It produces this stronger effect because it uses much more yarn. The stitches are more like knitting than normal crocheting. With this stitch, you can make carpets, floor mats and wall hangings, sweaters, shoulder bags, baby items, coats and accessories. The meshes have a square shape that matches the bulky yarn and are perfect for multicolored designs.
Crochet afghan baby Usually requires lighter materials. If you would like to crochet finer yarn or finer cotton with Tunisian crochet stitch, simply use a smaller hook suitable for the weight of the yarn you have chosen.
This is a beautiful and unusual stitch that creates a strong, clean, even pattern on every item on which it is applied. There will surely be an application that suits every crochet.
